Giving Up Spending

Soooooo, I'm getting towards skintage :( things need to be done.

First of all less spending, this means no buying random crap and less trips to t'pub.

Secondly make more money, this means a lot of modelling needs to be done and as much as possible stuck up on ebay and sold, so watch this space.

At the same time I need to keep occupied and keep in touch with people so I'm thinking my life will basically involve work, playing football and inviting people round to the Trenches "to have fun" modelling/keeping me focused on projects.

Oh and get more pictures on here :)

Actual Splurge

So, the weirdest thing happened to me tonight, my dad told me he loved me. I'm a bit scared to be honest, its not happened in many a year! It could be bad news or it could be that I told him about how shit my head got last year - woops.

With respect to that time, I messed a lot of things up around then so for those that it applies to - in fact anyone I've done something stupid to; here is a very public apology.

But the future is bright - finally moved out from home, got a job and some plans (not enough really but oh well :p).

So now for the weekend ahead; I'm going to pick up my next commission from home to get worked upon. Watching the rugby, few bevvies at pub and maybe a boardgame if got nothing else (cheap weekend :p).

So as such; Boardgame anyone?

Boardgames, Club News and Modelling

Only one more week til I can get back to some serious modelling and painting. Many ideas, plans and commissions to be worked upon :)

In the meantime I've been spending my game time playing and getting new boardgames, or rather trying to - I swear the dice are trying to kill me! First of all some old school monopoly where we played that you had to go around the board before you could buy properties - I WENT TO JAIL 3 TIMES!!!

Then last week bloodbowl - I rolled nye on everything below average - I mean don't get me wrong I made a horrific blunder early doors and my opponent wasn't overly lucky - until the required 6 for the interception at the end of course.

Rant over, I've now gone and purchased Arkham Horror. Really looking forward to bringing a co-op game to the Cow-Barn (our current gaming HQ :p) so I can kill everyone else with my dice, not just myself. So look out for a review of this in the near(ish) future.

The club website really seems to have started to take off with a horde of reports and TOEs from my friend AE. Loads of detail and the TOEs can be really easily converted for use in other rule sets.

Lastly, the future. As previously mentioned I have a lot of models to paint up; some for me, some to sell and some so I can dispose of on ebay. I also have continued my thinking aka Dragons - gonna buy some putty and maybe modify some existing models (beyond all recognition of course) into some basic shapes.

As per usual any comments would be appreciated - either to keep me on track or indeed to try something different - more picatures will follow once I've unpacked.

Fighting Dragon Temeraire

Been reading a few different books - expanding the horizons etc :). The one I really am enjoying at the moment is Temeraire by Naomi Novik; http://www.temeraire.org/his-majestys-dragon/. Now I've only just started reading these but the combination of "history" especially Napoleonics alongside Fantasy especially Dragons.

Now heres what I'm thinking - could this series be converted for use in a wargame. Napoleonic rulesets especially naval are numerous but the miniatures combining the rigging of napoleonic ships alongside dragons just sounds like a fantastic opportunity. So does anyone know - has anyone done any rules for this or if not are there any rules which could cover this?

Start of Something New

So first of all I'd like to say thanks to everyone following this :) and also to everyone who's given advice and comments - but more comments on here please :p.

The terrain building has been temporarily been put on hold as I'm moving to Lancaster in a couple of weeks time but as part of that it brings new opportunities which I will now proceed to bore you with as well as some questions that I'm hoping some of you may have some answers to.

Firstly, I have really started to get back into tabletop boardgaming playing with a bunch of friends some old favourites like Monopoly alongside some which I'd heard of but had never played like Munchkin and Carcassone - both brilliant games.

As such I would like to set up a boardgaming club in Lancaster, playing any games people bring along, maybe a few drinks, maybe try out some RPGs. So any suggestions as to location or anyone who wants to get involved get in touch :)

Secondly, and related, I'd like to find a set of rules for Star Wars Skirmish. Simple you say? Well give me some suggestions. They need to be either RPG rules which kind of work as wargaming rules or wargaming rules which have an RPG element. I have an idea for a brilliant scenario based on a book by Timothy Zahn which I won't describe for obvious reasons.

Finally, as I mentioned earlier I'm moving. As such I won't have all of my modelling stuff at first and I've got one box to fit a selected amount of stuff. What do you think I need in there so I can continue with as much painting and modelling as possible.

Cool Beans :p
